Etymology: < russ- (in Russian adj.; compare earlier Russ adj.) + -ify suffix, perhaps after German †russificiren (1810 or earlier; now russifizieren ) or French russifier (1815). Compare slightly earlier Russifier n.
transitive. To make (a person or thing) Russian in character, to Russianize. Also with lower-case initial.
