单词 rudas
释义

rudasn.adj.

Brit. /ˈruːdəs/, U.S. /ˈrudəs/, Scottish English /ˈrudəs/
Forms: 1700s–1800s roudas, 1700s–1800s roudes, 1800s roodies, 1800s roudass, 1800s roudess, 1800s roudous, 1800s rowdess, 1800s rudous, 1800s– rudas.
Origin: Of unknown origin.
Etymology: Origin unknown. For phonological reasons the word is unlikely to be related to rude adj., although recent forms may have been influenced by association with this word. A connection with Old French rodous, in a similar sense, but denoting a man (c1300, rare; Middle French roudous; of uncertain origin) is suggested by T. F. Mustanoja in E. Stanley & D. Gray Five Hundred Years of Words & Sounds (1983) 109-44.
