rucklingadj.

Brit. /ˈrʌk(ə)lɪŋ/, U.S. /ˈrək(ə)lɪŋ/, Scottish English /ˈrʌk(ə)lɪŋ/
Forms: 1800s– ruckling.
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: ruckle v.3, -ing suffix2.
Etymology: < ruckle v.3 + -ing suffix2. Compare earlier ruckle n.2, rickle v.1, and rickling adj. Compare also earlier ruttling n. and adj. at ruttle v. Derivatives.Earlier currency is perhaps implied by the following, although it may alternatively show a transmission error for ruttling n. and adj.: 1559 D. Lindsay Test. Papyngo l. 668 in Wks. (1931) I I am ane blak Monk, said the ruclande [1538 rutland, 1592 Rutill and] reuin; So said the gled, I am ane holy freir. This was first published in an anglicized version, which has rutland in the corresponding passage (compare quot. 1538 for ruttling n. and adj.); Scottish publications immediately following Lindsay's death (in 1555) have ruclande, but the 1592 Scottish edition of Lindsay's works reinstates a from with -t-. It is uncertain whether the forms with -t- represent the original reading or editorial emendations of an unfamiliar word.
Originally Scottish.
That makes a croaking, rattling, or gurgling noise; (also) designating such a sound. Cf. ruckle v.3
