Etymology: In quot. 1600 probably either < ruck n.2 + -ed suffix2 or < ruck v.4 + -ed suffix1, although attested earlier than either ruck n.2 or ruck v.4 In later use < ruck v.4 + -ed suffix1.
That has formed (untidy) ridges or folds; creased, wrinkled, rumpled; hitched up; (also) ruched. Frequently with up.
