Origin: Formed within English, by conversion; perhaps modelled on a French lexical item, or perhaps modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymon: rougine n.
Etymology: < rougine n., perhaps after French ruginer (1478 in Middle French) or post-classical Latin ruginare (6th cent.). Compare earlier rugining n.
Surgery. Now rare.
