Etymology: < rosil n. + -y suffix1, perhaps with allusion to the cohesive texture of the soil. Compare rosiny adj. 2.
Chiefly English regional (East Anglian). Now rare.
Of soil: consisting of both sand and clay, intermediate in quality between sand and clay. Cf. rosiny adj. 2, rosil n. 2.
