roudgen.

Brit. /ruːdʒ/, U.S. /rudʒ/

Origin: Apparently a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: rug n.3
Etymology: Apparently a variant of rug n.3, although both the affricate // and the vowel of the α. forms are difficult to explain. With the affricate perhaps compare ridge n.1 1c beside rig n.1 1b, although there is not an exact correspondence in either date or meaning.
Now rare.
A large piece of coarse cloth, (in early use) esp. as used as a bedcover. Cf. rug n.3 2.
