A follower of Ronsard; a poet who writes in the style of Ronsard. Cf. Pleiad n. 2.Ronsard was regarded as the greatest poet of the French Renaissance, esp. for his lyricism and his lexical and metrical innovation. Interest in his work was revived, after a period of neglect, by Romantic poets and critics in the early 19th cent.
