单词 rongeur
释义

rongeurn.

Brit. /rɒ̃ˈʒəː/, U.S. /rɔnˈʒər/
Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French rongeur.
Etymology: < French rongeur (noun) person who gnaws (1546 in Middle French; 1530 in figurative use in rongeur d'or , denoting a greedy person), rodent (1803), (adjective) gnawing, corrosive (1718, originally in figurative use with reference to the bite of conscience) < ronger to gnaw (see rounge v.) + -eur -eur suffix. There appears to be no secure evidence for corresponding specific use in a medical context of either the French noun or the French adjective. However, perhaps compare Old French rongeour kind of scraping instrument used for removing small pieces from bone (1314 in an isolated attestation in Mondeville), which may show an earlier instance of the French noun, but could alternatively be taken as showing a different origin, since another manuscript of Mondeville has rangeour.
Surgery.
Any of various types of surgical forceps having a biting action, typically used to remove small pieces of bone. Also rongeur forceps. Also in plural.
