单词 roméite
释义

roméiten.

Brit. /ˈrəʊmɪʌɪt/, U.S. /ˈroʊmɪˌaɪt/
Forms: 1800s romëite, 1800s– romeite, 1900s– roméite.
Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French roméite.
Etymology: < French roméite (1842 in Congrès scientifique de France: Mémoires et procès-verbaux 9 84: see note below), apparently alteration (with suffix substitution: compare -ite -ite suffix1) of roméine romeine n. Compare German Romeït (1842 in Ann. der Physik und Chemie 66 124, in an abstract of Damour's 1841 paper). Compare earlier romeine n.The 1842 paper in French mentions the description and chemical analysis of the mineral carried out by A. Damour in 1841. However, Damour uses roméine rather than roméite in his paper. It is therefore likely that the 1842 instance of roméite shows an alteration of the original name of the mineral. Although the German paper was published in the same year as the French paper, neither of them makes reference to the other.
Mineralogy.
