Etymology: < rosac- (in French rosacé rosaceous adj.) + -ic suffix, after French acide rosacé rosacic acid (L. Proust 1801, in Ann. de chim. 36 266; earlier as Spanish ácido rosáceo, L. Proust 1800, in Anales de historia natural 1 281), so called on account of its colour.

Chemistry. Now historical and rare.
