Etymology: As noun < post-classical Latin roborantia strengthening medicines (1542 or earlier), use as noun (perhaps short for roborantia medicamenta (1557 or earlier)) of neuter plural of classical Latin rōborant-, rōborāns (see below); as adjective < classical Latin rōborant-, rōborāns, present participle of rōborāre (see roborate v.).
Medicine. Now rare.
