Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: rine v.1, -er suffix1.
Etymology: < rine v.1 + -er suffix1.
English regional (chiefly Cheshire). Now rare.
In bowls: a bowl which touches the jack. In quoits: a quoit which touches the peg. Also: a throw which achieves this. Cf. toucher n. 2.Chiefly in to shed riners with a whaver (see whaver n. at whave v. Derivatives; frequently figurative).
