Etymology: < rhod- (in rhodium n.²) + -ate suffix¹, after either German Rhodat (1833 or earlier) or French rhodate (1834 or earlier). N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (rō^u·dĕt) /ˈrəʊdət/.

Chemistry. rare before mid 20th cent.
