Etymology: < revolution n. + -al suffix1. Compare post-classical Latin revolutionalis rotatory (c1267 in a British source in motus revolutionalis rotatory movement). With sense 3 compare French †révolutionnel (1791, only with reference to the French Revolution) and also earlier revolutionary adj.
Now rare.
