Etymology: < Anglo-Norman restoraunce, Anglo-Norman and Middle French restorance re-establishment, restoration (late 13th cent. in Old French), in Anglo-Norman also compensation (late 14th cent. or earlier) < restorer restore v.1 + -ance -ance suffix. Compare restaurance n.With the β. forms compare -ence suffix.
