释义

reversementn.

Brit. /rᵻˈvəːsm(ə)nt/, U.S. /rəˈvərsm(ə)nt/, /riˈvərsm(ə)nt/
Forms: 1500s–1600s reuersement, 1600s reuersment, 1600s– reversement.
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: reverse v.1, -ment suffix.
Etymology: < reverse v.1 + -ment suffix, perhaps after Middle French reversement (1389; French (now regional: Walloon) reversement (rare after 17th cent.)). Compare Spanish †reversamiento (end of the 15th cent.; rare), Italian riversamento (beginning of the 15th cent. or earlier; now rare). Compare earlier reversal n., reversing n., reversion n.1, and later renversement n.
Now rare.
The action of reversing something, or the fact of being reversed; reversal. Also: an instance of this.
