Etymology: < retro- prefix + classical Latin copulānt-, copulāns, present participle of copulāre to link together, conjoin (see copulant adj.), after retrocopulation n. Compare earlier retrocoient adj., retrogenerative adj.
Zoology. Obsolete. rare.
Of an animal: that copulates from behind; (also) that copulates back to back (cf. retrocoient adj., retrogenerative adj.). Cf. retrocopulation n.
