(a) A manoeuvre in which a horse is ridden for a short distance in a straight line, performs a 180-degree turn along a semicircular path, and is ridden back along the same line. Cf. passade n. 1 (b) A 180-degree turn along a semicircular path, esp. one performed in five steps of each foot, with the hindquarters towards the inside of the circle.
