Etymology: < post-classical Latin repumicat-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of repumicare to rub smooth (1542 in a British source; mid 16th cent. in a continental source) < classical Latin re- re- prefix + pūmicāre pumicate v.; compare classical Latin repūmicātiō repumication n. at Derivatives.
Obsolete.
transitive. To make smooth by rubbing, spec. with a pumice stone.
