Etymology: < classical Latin repugnāt-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of repugnāre repugn v. Compare earlier repugn v., repugnatory adj. N.E.D. (1906) gives the pronunciation as (rĭpɒ·gneit) /rɪˈpʌɡneɪt/.
Obsolete. rare.
