单词 repart
释义

repartv.

Brit. /ˌriːˈpɑːt/, U.S. /riˈpɑrt/
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; partly modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: re- prefix, part v.
Etymology: < re- prefix + part v., partly after Middle French repartir (French répartir) to allot, assign, or distribute (something to someone) (12th cent. in Old French). Compare Catalan repartir (1490), Spanish repartir (12th cent.), Portuguese repartir (15th cent.), Italian ripartire (a1557).In sense 3 after French repartir to reply promptly (a different word from répartir : see repartee n. and compare repartee v.). In sense 4 after French faire repartir un cheval to make a horse leave again (showing repartir to leave again, a different word from répartir; it is formally identical to repartir to reply promptly, but was probably formed independently).
