In Germany: a monetary unit tied to industrial and agricultural resources rather than to gold, introduced in November 1923 and superseded by the Reichsmark in 1924 (see Reichsmark n.).The Rentenmark was issued in an attempt to address German post-war hyperinflation. It was not valid internationally, but was accepted internally until 1948 (when the Deutschmark was introduced), with the last notes being issued in 1937. The Rentenmark was subdivided into 100 Rentenpfennig.
