Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Resit.
Etymology: < German Resit (H. Lebach 1909, in Zeitschr. f. angewandte Chem. 22 1601; < res- (in classical Latin rēsīna resin n.) + German -it -ite suffix1), with remodelling of the ending after -ite suffix1.
Chemistry.
Any of the insoluble, infusible synthetic resins that are the final products of phenol–aldehyde copolymerizations. Cf. resitol n., resol n. 2.

1913 H. Lebach in Jrnl. Soc. Chem. Industry 32 559/2 For the final product, whether it be called Bakelite ‘C’, Resinite, Condensite, or by some other name, I suggest the name ‘Resite’.
1950 Thorpe's Dict. Appl. Chem. (ed. 4) X. 24/2 The resin hardens on further heating and becomes insoluble and infusible. This is the ‘C’ or resite stage and consists of macromolecules with numerous branched and cross-linked chains.
1973 Materials & Technol. VI. viii. 588 Phenol resins evolve in three stages, which are connected with the degree of condensation:..3. Resite or C-stage (final condition of the cured product): infusible and insoluble.
