Dict. at rag-wort takes the word as a variant of ragwort n.¹, but if the identification of the plant as gladdon is correct, this seems unlikely on both formal and semantic grounds, as the gladdon has no ‘ragged’ leaves, nor would the vowel in the first syllable be any easier to account for.

Obsolete. rare.

Apparently: gladdon or stinking iris, Iris foetidissima.
