Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Middle French regracier to thank, give thanks to (God or a person) (second quarter of the 13th cent. in Old French as regraciier ) < re- re- prefix + gracier grace v. Compare post-classical Latin regratiari to thank (see regratiate v.), Catalan regraciar (14th cent.), Spanish regraciar (late 14th cent.), Italian †regraziare (early 13th cent. as †regratiare ; superseded by ringraziare : see reingratiate v.).
Obsolete. rare.
