Etymology: < classical Latin rēmig-, rēmex remex n. + scientific Latin -ium -y suffix⁴, perhaps after pterygium n. Perhaps compare classical Latin rēmigium action of rowing (see remigial adj.). Compare earlier remigial adj.

Entomology.

The anterior region of an insect wing, which is supported by relatively rigid wing veins and is responsible for most of the movement required for flight.
