Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French rejoir.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman rejoier , Anglo-Norman and Middle French rejoir (French réjouir ) to gladden, make joyful (c1170 in Old French as resjoir ), to rejoice, be joyful (c1177, used reflexively), to enjoy as possessor (1327 or earlier; apparently only in Anglo-Norman) < re- re- prefix and joir joy v. Compare earlier joy v. and slightly later enjoy v. Compare also rejoice v.
Obsolete.
