Etymology: < post-classical Latin remonstrat-, past participial stem of remonstrare (see remonstrate v.) + -ive suffix. Compare slightly later remonstrate v. N.E.D. (1906) gives an alternative pronunciation (rĭmǫ·nstrătiv) /ˈrɛmənstrətɪv/.
Of or characterized by remonstration; that expresses opposition, objection, or reproval.
