Brit. /rᵻˈdɛm(p)t(ə)rɪst/, U.S. /rəˈdɛm(p)tərəst/, /riˈdɛm(p)tərəst/
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on a French lexical item, or perhaps modelled on a German lexical item, or perhaps modelled on an Italian lexical item. Etymons: redemptor n., -ist suffix.

With use as adjective compare French rédemptoriste, adjective (1829).Post-classical Latin redemptorista (noun) is apparently not attested before the late 20th cent.; the official Latin name of the order is Congregatio Sanctissimi Redemptoris.
