Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: recti- comb. form, nerved adj.
Etymology: < recti- comb. form + nerved adj., after scientific Latin rectinervis (1844 as a specific epithet, also 1849 as a specific name).
Chiefly Botany. rare.
Of leaves: having the veins running in a straight line from the base to the apex or margin.In quot. 1922 figurative.
