Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin recrūdēscere.
Etymology: < classical Latin recrūdēscere to break out again (of wounds, also figurative) < re- re- prefix + crūdēscere to become raw < crūdus crude adj. + -ēscere -esce suffix. Compare earlier recrudescence n., recrudescency n., recrudency n.
