Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: re- prefix, annex v.
Etymology: < re- prefix + annex v., perhaps after Middle French reannexer (1476; < re- re- prefix + annexer annex v.; apparently subsequently re-formed as French reannexer in the late 19th cent.). Compare post-classical Latin reannexus annexed, attached (1365 in a British source).
