Etymology: < post-classical Latin reconciliatorius effecting reconciliation (with the Church) (5th cent.) < classical Latin reconciliāt- , past participial stem of reconciliāre reconcile v. + -ōrius -ory suffix1. Compare Middle French, French (rare) réconciliatoire (a1564 in Calvin in an apparently isolated attestation, subsequently from 1848).
That effects or promotes reconciliation; conciliatory.
