单词 real presence
释义

real presencen.

Brit. /ˌrɪəl ˈprɛzns/, U.S. /ˌri(ə)l ˈprɛzns/
Forms: see real adj.2, n.2, and adv. and presence n.
Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: real adj.2, presence n.
Etymology: < real adj.2 + presence n., after post-classical Latin praesentia realis (early 14th cent. in a British source). Compare Middle French reale presence (1575), French présence réelle (1643).
Christian Church.
The actual presence of Christ's body and blood in the sacrament of the Eucharist. Cf. presence n. 1c.The precise sense attached to real depends on the belief held as to the nature or mode of the presence. In the Roman Catholic and Lutheran churches it implies the presence (by transubstantiation or consubstantiation) of the actual body and blood of Christ; the formal doctrine of the Church of England is that the presence of the body and blood is real ‘only after an heavenly and spiritual manner’ ( 39 Articles, §28).
