Origin: Either (i) formed within English, by derivation. Or (ii) a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: re- prefix, candescence n.; Latin recandēscere , -ence suffix.
Etymology: Either < re- prefix + candescence n., or < classical Latin recandēscere to glow again with heat ( < re- re- prefix + candēscere to grow light or white, to glow with heat: see candescent adj.) + -ence suffix. Compare earlier excandescence n., incandescence n.
The action or process of flaring up again; resurgence; an instance of this.
