Etymology: < re- prefix + assumption n., after reassume v. Compare post-classical Latin reassumptio resumption, taking back (14th cent. in British sources), final resurrection (14th cent.). Compare also Italian riassunzione (a1657; 1611 in Florio as reassuntione : see quot. 1611). Compare resumption n.
The act of reassuming something; an instance of this.
