Etymology: Originally a variant of reformation n.1, now usually distinguished in form in the senses below (in pronunciation, and often also in spelling by the use of a hyphen in the present word). In later use also independently < re- prefix + formation n., after re-form v.2 Compare re-forming n.2
The action of forming again; a second or new formation.
