Etymology: < classical Latin abnūtīvus negative (2nd cent. a.d.) < abnūt- , past participial stem of abnuere to decline, to refuse, to deny ( < ab- ab- prefix + -nuere to nod: see numen n.) + -īvus -ive suffix.
Obsolete. rare.
