Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin rāmulōsus.
Etymology: < classical Latin rāmulōsus having many small branches (applied by Pliny to veined leaves) < rāmulus small branch (see ramulus n.) + -ōsus -ose suffix1. Compare French ramuleux (1828 or earlier in botanical use). Compare earlier ramulous adj., ramose adj., ramous adj.
