Etymology: Apparently < ramage adj. + -ous suffix; compare also -eous suffix, -ious suffix. Compare later ramage n.1Compare Anglo-Norman ramageous living in the woods (1429 in an apparently isolated attestation) < ramage woodland (see ramage n.2) + -ous -ous suffix.
