Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin radici-.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin radici- (in e.g. radiciformis radiciform adj. ) < classical Latin rādīc- , rādix radix n.; compare -i- connective.Found in a small number of formations exemplified below. Compare post-classical Latin radici- (formations in which are found from the end of the 18th cent.), French radici- (formations in which are found from the 19th cent.).
Forming adjectives with the sense ‘of or relating to a root’.
