Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin abnormitas.
Etymology: < classical Latin abnormitas strangeness (5th cent. in a variant reading; also in an undated glossary) < classical Latin abnormis (see abnormous adj.) + -tās (see -ty suffix1; compare -ity suffix).
1. The quality of being abnormal or contrary to the ordinary rule or type; irregularity, deformity, monstrosity. Cf. abnormality n. 2.
