Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin quondam.
Etymology: < classical Latin quondam formerly, in post-classical Latin also (adjective) former, late (6th cent.; apparently not attested as a noun in the spec. sense with reference to an ex-fellow of All Souls College) < quom , variant of cum when (see when adv.) + -dam, of uncertain origin.
