Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin quo ad hanc.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin quo ad hanc so far as this (woman) is concerned (see quot. 1654) < classical Latin quoad (see quoad prep.) + hanc , accusative feminine of hīc this (see hic jacet n.). Compare quoad hunc adv. and also quoad prep., quoad hoc adv.The concept or category clearly existed in medieval canon law, but the post-classical Latin phrase has not been traced.
Chiefly Law.
With reference to the annulment of marriage on the grounds of the sexual impotence of the husband: in respect of this woman only.
