/kãt/, U.S. /kwɪnt/ Fencing. The fifth of eight recognized parrying positions: (in foil and épée fencing) a low-line guard in which the blade is held in pronation and to the open side; (in sabre fencing) a high guard used to protect the head; a parry executed from this position. Frequently in in quinte.
