transitive. To subject (tin ore) to a first or partial roasting.

1867 R. Hunt Ure's Dict. Arts (ed. 6) III. 910 Instead of being at once completely roasted, the ‘whits’ from the stamps are sometimes first ‘rag’ (or partially) burnt, for about six or eight hours.
