Etymology: < classical Latin quartārius fourth part of any measure, especially of a sextarius (see quarter n.).
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
A dry or liquid measure equal to a quarter of a sextary; a measure of weight equal to a quarter of a pound.
