Etymology: < post-classical Latin quantum sufficit as much as suffices (3rd cent.; from 1565 in medical prescriptions) < quantum which amount (see quantum n.) + sufficit , 3rd singular present indicative of sufficere suffice v. Compare later quantum suff. n., quantum suff. adv.
