Etymology: < pyro- comb. form + -graph comb. form. In sense 2 after pyrography n.
1. A fire signal. Obsolete.Apparently an isolated use.

2. Originally U.S. A hand-held tool with an (electrically) heated nib or needle, used to burn designs on wood or similar materials. Also: such a design. Frequently attributive. Cf. pyrography n. 2a.
